Chocolate Cake Without Oven

This chocolate cake recipe is my go-to recipe whenever I need to make a chocolate cake. it has never failed me and I get perfect cake each time, soft and spongy. This is an oil-based cake. it goes well with whipped cream frosting. it does not get hard on refrigeration. I made this Chocolate cake without an oven.  I used this chocolate cake recipe to make black forest cake and tiramisu ice cream.

This recipe yields two 8 inch layers. I doubled the recipe and divided the batter between one 7 inches square tin and three 8 inches round tins. I wanted three thin layers for the black forest cake and the square was for tiramisu ice cream.  Make sure to use good quality cocoa powder. I use Hershey’s brand.

If you are going to use an oven then bake at 180 C for 35 to 40 mins or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

  • Eggs Large 6
  • Granulated Sugar 1¾ cup
  • Cake Flour 1¾ cups
  • Cocoa Powder ½ cup
  • Baking Powder 1½ tsp
  • Salt ½ tsp
  • Vegetable Oil ¾ cup
  • Milk ½ cup + 2 Tbsp
  • Vanilla Essence 1 Tbsp
Instructions
  1. Sift the flour, baking powder and salt and keep aside.
  2. In a small bowl take oil, Add the milk and vanilla essence and mix well.
  3. Take salt in a wide-mouthed aluminum vessel.
  4. Add a layer of salt.
  5. Place a small plate.
  6. Cover it with a lid and preheat for 10 mins on medium flame.
  7. Place the eggs and sugar in a large metal mixing bowl.
  8. On high speed whip the eggs until they reach the ribbon stage.
  9. Add the sifted flour, cocoa powder, salt and baking powder to the whipped eggs all at once, and on low -medium speed blend to combine well.
  10. Add the oil, milk and vanilla essence mixture all at once and mix just until combined.
  11. Pour into the prepared pan and carefully place inside the vessel and cover and cook for 30 mins. First 10 mins on high flame and next 20 mins on low flame.
  12. Invert it onto a wire rack and let it cool completely.
