Peshawari Namkeen Murgh

Peshawari Namkeen Murgh is a very easy chicken recipe. last week I was feeling very lazy. I had no mood to go to the kitchen and cook. I was looking for some recipe that I can prepare quickly and I came across this recipe. Without much thinking, I noted down the ingredients and tried it. The result was good. It requires quite a few ingredients and yet tastes fantastic. It goes well with Rice, Chapathi, Naan.

For spice powder
  • Cumin seeds 1 tbsp
  • Pepper 2 tbsp
  • Coriander seeds 2 tbsp
For the gravy
  • Chicken 1 kg cut into medium size pieces
  • Butter 3 tbsp
  • Oil 3 tbsp
  • Ginger garlic paste 1 tbsp
  • Onion 1 large thinly sliced
  • Tomato 1 large thickly sliced
  • Green chillies 5 nos finely chopped
  • Curd 4 tbsp
  • Garam masala powder ½ tsp
For garnishing
  • Coriander leaves chopped
Instructions
  1. Dry roast cumin seeds and pepper on low flame till it is fragrant. Transfer to a plate.
  2. Dry roast coriander seeds on low flame.
  3. Cool it and grind to a coarse powder.
  4. Heat butter and oil in a pan.
  5. Add in chicken pieces and fry till light brown.
  6. Add ginger garlic paste and fry till raw smell goes.
  7. Add the sliced onions and fry for 2 mins.
  8. Now add in sliced tomato and cook till it turns soft.
  9. Add in chopped green chillies, spice powder, curd and Garam masala powder.
  10. Cook covered till the chicken is completely cooked.
  11. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.

Heat butter and oil in a pressure cooker. Add in chicken pieces and fry until light brown.

Add ginger garlic paste and the sliced onions and fry for 2 mins.

Now add in sliced tomato and cook till it turns soft.

Add the Garam masala powder and cook covered till the chicken is completely cooked.
