Eggless Chocolate Lava Cake Without Oven

Chocolate Lava cake also known as Chocolate Fondant is a sinful dessert anyone would fall in love with. But did you know this divine dessert was actually a result of a major catering disaster. It was actually supposed to be a chocolate cake. But, someone took it out of the oven too soon and the result was a cake with uncooked center. There was no much time to rectify it. so, the chef simply introduced it as chocolate lava cake. Therefore if you don’t get perfect lava the first time, it’s alright because you will have a perfectly baked chocolate cake. That is what my little brother told the first time I make it and failed.

Now, the trick to getting a perfect lava cake is that you should bake this at a slightly higher temperature and the center of the cake should still be a little wet when you take it out. I made this without oven. Look how beautifully the lava is oozing out. The cooking time depends upon the size of your mould. I baked these Eggless lava cakes in individual cupcake moulds. It took me 10 mins to bake these. Keep checking these every now and then.

Dusting it with icing sugar is optional. I only dusted three of it with icing sugar and kept one of it plain. It tastes best with a scoop of vanilla Ice Cream. Hot lava Cake with cold vanilla Ice Cream! Nothing like it!!

If you are going to bake it in an oven the bake at 180 degrees C for 10 mins.

Ingredients
  • Dark Chocolate 100 gms
  • Butter 2 Tsp
  • Flour ½ Cup
  • Cocoa Powder ¼ Cup
  • Powdered Sugar ½ Cup
  • Baking Powder ½ Tsp
  • Milk 1 cup
Instructions
  1. grease the cupcake moulds with butter and dust it cocoa powder.
  2. Take a wide mouth aluminium vessel.
  3. Add a layer of salt.
  4. Place a small plate. Preheat it on a medium flame for 10 mins.
  5. In a bowl add all the sifted dry ingredients i.e flour, sugar, cocoa powder and baking powder.
  6. Add ½ cup of milk and make a smooth batter.
  7. Melt the dark chocolate over the double boiler.
  8. Once it melts, Add the butter and mix it well.
  9. Add this to the batter and mix until combined.
  10. Add the remaining milk and make a smooth and runny batter.
  11. Pour it into the moulds.
  12. Place it inside the vessel. Cover it with a lid.
  13. Bake at medium flame for 10 mins.
  14. Allow it cool for 5 mins.
  15. Invert onto a plate and dust it with icing sugar and garnish with cherries.
