Afghani chicken dry is a very simple dish. It is served in most of the Indian restaurants. Afghani chicken is not so spicy as we are not using any chilly powder. Here we are using pepper powder and green chillies. if u want to make it spicier then increase the number of green chillies. 

Afghani chicken goes well with rice,chapathi, pathhiri, appam, neer dosa.

  • Chicken 1.5 kg cut into medium size pieces
  • Yogurt 150 grams
  • Oil 2 tbsp
  • Chaat masala powder 1 tsp
  • Lemon juice of 1 lemon
  • Green chillies 4 to 5 finely chopped
  • Cashews 20 to 25
  • Ginger paste ½ tbsp
  • Garlic paste ½ tbsp
  • Garam masala powder 1 tbsp
  • Dry fenugreek leaves or kasoori methi 1 tbsp
  • Black pepper powder ½ tsp
  • fresh cream 4 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Coriander leaves Finely chopped
Instructions
  1. Soak the cahews in warm water for 10 mins.
  2. Dry roast the kasoori methi on low flame for 30 secs.
  3. Crush it with your hands and keep aside.
  4. Grind together cashews and yoghurt to a fine paste.
  5. In a mixing bowl take the prepared paste. Add the garam masala powder, pepper powder, Chaat masala powder, salt, Ginger and garlic paste, lemon juice and mix nicely.
  6. Add the fresh cream and crushed kasoori methi.
  7. Add in the chicken pieces and mix nicely.
  8. Take a piece of hot coal in a small steel katori.
  9. Place it on top of the chicken.
  10. Add 1 tsp oil and cover immediately. Leave it for 10 mins.
  11. Heat oil in a Kadai.
  12. Add The marinated Chicken Pieces.
  13. Fry this on medium flame till it turns golden in Color.
  14. Add the left over marinade and cook till oil is released.
  15. Add the chopped green chilies.
  16. Add one cup water and cook on low fame for 10 mins or till the chicken is cooked completely.
  17. Garnish with chopped Coriander leaves and slit green chilies.
